The biggest danger of Autumn isn't the choppy waves, or an icy swell. It's eating nothing but the crispiest, crunchiest fallen leaves and getting leaf bits stuck in your teeth. Let this be a lesson in hubris...
November's Book of the Month
We dove into the deep, brisk as it may be, and are no strangers to an abyssal author or two. Or several. ... Or many more. This month, we are keeping up the momentum and rolling with the waves with November's Book of the Month: 826 Quarterly Volume 32. Our latest student publication explores many perspectives on many topics such as creation myths, current events, biographies, poetry and much, much more. Readers can find exchanges of raw emotion that powers every turn of the page, from expository recipes and food reviews to letters of appreciation and the daunting passage of time and strife. For folks who crave a taste of controlled chaos with a side of topicality in-flux, we present to you: Unbridled human nature sandwiched between two covers. Best enjoyed with a beverage and/or bestie of choice.
Peek into the pages of our new Quarterly! It's a smorgasbord of voices, big and small, and each page is like hopping currents: you get drawn in and whisked away to somewhere completely new, but you're glad you came along for the ride. It's also a great way to measure how much time it takes for you to get all the leaf crumbs out of your many needle-like teeth
Note: 826 Quarterly Volume 32 contains mature content. 826 Valencia encourages students to write about their experiences and opinions. Some pieces are the works of imagination and may not be factual, and some may include more realism and address current-day issues. As such, some of these works contain topics, themes, and language that may not be suitable for readers under the age of twelve.
Shiver Me Shirts!
If you've been looking for the white whale of 826 shirt designs, or are just a very very cold serpent fighting back the bane of brumation, you're in luck! WE HAVE SO MANY SHIRTS AND SO LITTLE TORSOS TO WEAR THEM! Come by our store to get tons of T-shirts (or one, if that so happens to be your favorite number or if you just have one torso), and cozy up in some new coastalwear! Beloved favorites are back, such as "SEA MONSTER WITH THE HUGE MOUTH" and "DIFFERENT TYPES OF KNOTS"!
Merry Mercado!
Do you have a trinket box that's longing for more goodies, a particularly bare piece of wall that you'd been meaning to decorate, or even just an insatiable hunger for knick knacks and supporting local artists? Come on over to 826's very own local craft fair, Merry Mercado! We feature volunteer artists and craftsfolk from our community, and this will be our very first year hosting 826 parents as vendors! Our festive fair will take place on December 14th from 12-3 PM for the public, and 3-6 PM for Volunteers. Check out the Eventbrite page to RSVP. Sea you there!
