In 2017, we celebrated 15 years of supporting San Francisco students through free writing, tutoring, and publishing programs.
Between growing in spurts and striving for the perfect mixtape, we decided to ask our community what fifteen means to them. The result? Fifteen, a collection of writing and art by authors ages eight to much older than 15, from 15 years of 826 Valencia!
This super special book features writing by our students alongside guest contributors like Daniel Handler (otherwise known as Lemony Snicket), Kate Schatz (Rad Women Worldwide), Matthew Zapruder (Why Poetry), Thao Nguyen (of Thao and the Get Down Stay Down), and more!
If you've ever been fifteen, will be fifteen, or are fifteen, this book is for you--and as usual, all the proceeds support free programs for under-resourced youth.
826 Valencia is a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting under-resourced students ages six to eighteen with their creative and expository writing skills and to helping teachers inspire their students to write. Our services are structured around the understanding that great leaps in learning can happen with one-on-one attention and that strong writing skills are fundamental to future success.
